Most Dangerous Place...II

A Nigerian woman has written to me (see comments section), taking offense at my last posting "Most Dangerous Palce on Earth". I tried writing back to her but the e-mail address I have does not seem to work. Here is a copy of my reply to her and to any other Nigerians who may have taken offense.

Clarification

Most Dangerous Place on Earth - Apparently the hyperbole in my previous posting alarmed a few of my friends and relatives. The odds of me contracting any of the diseases mentioned or encountering snakes, armed robbers or cultists is very low. All of these things exist in Nigeria but then the U.S. has Jeffrey Dahmers, the BTK killer and a host of other dangers.  I am not actually afraid of dying here and I am not really intimidated by the traffic in Abuja. All of the things I described are real but most of the car accidents are just fender benders. Thanks for your concern, though.

Gurara Falls

It has been a while since I posted any news but life over the last month has consisted of going to work, going to dinner, going home, going to work, going to dinner, going home, going to work… On, Saturday, however, the embassy organized a trip to Gurara Falls which is about 1 ½ hours west of Abuja.
